In order to support Hong Kong schools in implementing effective and evidence-based Positive Education, Bei Shan Tang Foundation is committed to providing useful resources and up-to-date information to equip educators and the general public with scientific knowledge, strategies and skills for promoting wellbeing. These resources support schools and families in fostering flourishing lives together.
In 2023, we are honored to be granted the license by the esteemed Character Lab to translate into Chinese and disseminate in Hong Kong articles and resources on the cutting-edge theories of positive psychology. These works were authored by the organization's founder, Professor Angela Duckworth, and a cadre of distinguished scholars. The topics covered in these materials encompass learning and growth, student character development, home education, and school leadership. The content is characterized by its depth, relevance, and provision of practical advice and tips for educators and parents to readily comprehend the principles of Positive Education. Furthermore, these resources enable parents to effectively parent their children in both academic and domestic settings. It is our firm conviction that the translation of these resources into Chinese will be of tremendous benefit to a wider audience of Chinese readers.

How do you define character?
We define character as everything we do to help other people as well as ourselves.
As an organizing principle, we separate character strengths into three dimensions. Strengths of heart, such as gratitude, enable harmonious relationships with other people. Strengths of will, such as grit and self-control, enable achievement. Strengths of mind, such as curiosity, enable independent thinking.
Character Lab also recognizes and supports a diversity of frameworks including SEL, whole child, and 21st-century skills.
